VIBRANT PARISH LIFE INITIATIVE

Newly-merged vibrant parishes continue to welcome faithful

As 2010 begins, the Cleveland Diocese welcomes new parish communities formed during the Vibrant Parish Life initiative begun 10 years ago.

Here is a list of newly-formed, merged parishes:

* Prince of Peace Parish, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton, opened July 1, 2002, formed from Sacred Heart and St. Mary parishes.

* Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 708 Erie St., Grafton, opened October 29, 2006, formed from Immaculate Conception and Assumption parishes.

* Holy Spirit Parish, 4341 E. 131st St., Garfield Heights, opened January 4, 2008, formed from St. Catherine, St. Henry and St. Timothy parishes.

* St. Casimir Parish, 18022 Neff Rd., Cleveland, opened October 25, formed from St. George and Our Lady of Perpetual Help parishes.

* St. Malachi Parish, 2459 Washington Ave., Cleveland, opened November 11, formed from St. Malachi Parish and Community of St. Malachi.

* Visitation of Mary Parish, 55 Broad St., Akron, opened November 8, formed from St. John the Baptist and Annunciation parishes.

* Our Lady of Hope Parish, 400 Center Rd., Bedford, opened November 22, from St. Mary, Holy Trinity and St. Pius X parishes.

* St. John of the Cross Parish, 140 Richmond Rd., Euclid, opened November 29, from St. Paul and St. Felicitas parishes.

* Blessed Trinity Parish, 300 East Tallmadge Ave., Akron, opened December 6, from St. Martha and Christ the King parishes.

* Mary, Mother of God Parish, 310 Eighth St., Lorain, opened December 20, from Holy Trinity and St. Mary parishes.

* Sts. Robert and William Parish, 367 E. 260th St., Euclid, opened January 3, from St. William and St. Robert Bellarmine parishes.
