DEACON ORDINATIONS 2008 |
|||
| Eight men joined the permanent
diaconate on May 3 in ceremonies
at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist led by Bishop Richard G. Lennon. The group included: Rev. Mr. Daniel L. Bryan, St. James Parish, Lakewood; Rev. Mr. David N. Chordas, St. Gregory the Great Parish, South Euclid; Rev. Mr. Edmund A. Gardias, St. Adalbert Parish, Berea; Rev. Mr. Robert H. Grgic, St. Gabriel Parish, Concord; Rev. Mr. Gregory P. Leisure, St. John Vianney Parish, Mentor; Rev. Mr. George P. Malec, St. Cyprian Parish, Perry; Rev. Mr. David E. Nethery, St. Noel Parish, Willoughby Hills; and Rev. Mr. Gregory A. Wunderle, St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Norton. They are among more than 200 deacons now serving the diocese. Ordained for service, deacons become involved in three vital ministries of church life: sharing the good news of the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments, and involvement in the community through works and deeds. The deacon, U.S. bishops write, “in his person and in his roles, continually makes visible to the Church the redemptive service fulfilled by Jesus Christ.” |
